In this course, the focus is on reducing setup times for manufacturers to increase their flexibility, because frequent setups are necessary to produce a variety of goods in small lots.

Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) refers to a theory and the techniques for performing setup operations in fewer than ten minutes – the number of minutes can be expressed in a single digit.

Participants will learn how inexpensive techniques can be implemented to achieve quick changeovers.

The process includes classroom training, identifying key processes of equipment, and understanding the implementation process.

This course also includes classroom simulations where participants time study, separate internal from external activity, and implement an improvement plan.

The TPM module is designed to teach operations the philosophy, and skills necessary to transform productive maintenance activities from a “cost burden” to a “cost savings” part of the business.
